End of the year insurance info
It is hard to believe that it’s the end of 2013, isn’t it? It seemed to creep up extra quickly this year. You may still have some things left on your list to that you wanted to accomplish before year’s end. At this point, it might be better to ‘drop back and punt’ as they say. Take inventory of everything on your list and reevaluate the importance of everything you see on it. Maybe some things can be pushed into the next year while some really do need to get finished before 2014.
One of the things you may want to check on is your insurance. In some cases, you may have yearly deductibles that could reset themselves on January 1st. If you rescheduled any doctor’s appointments for the upcoming year, you might want to give your doctor’s office a call to see if they could squeeze you in before Wednesday. You could save yourself a couple of out-of-pocket bucks by taking that quick appointment today.
Also, now is a great time to set up a system to keep track of your medical spending habits. Grab a sturdy envelope for all those medical receipts over the next year. Co-payments, prescriptions and over the counter medications could be included. When the end of 2014 shows up, you will have a better idea of how much you should put aside for medical spending. You can then set up a spending account that will be tax-free for the next year.
