Black Friday shopping tips
If you have plans to wake up early on Friday to get some of your holiday shopping done, you may want to plan ahead before you head out to the shops. Black Friday discounts are very tempting but getting yourself up and out to the store after Thanksgiving can be more trouble than it’s worth if you do not do it right. It is better to go in with a game plan if you want to reap the benefits of all the good deals that day.
First, you will want to do some research. Do you have a particular item you are looking for? If you are looking for a big ticket item, look through several store circulars to find the best price. Be sure to take into account any accessories that will or will not come as part of the deal. If you are partial to shopping at one store over another but notice that they do not have the best price, call beforehand and ask if they will match a competitor’s price. Let them know that you are a loyal customer and would like to do your business with them.
When you do get to the store, be prepared for the crowds. Unfortunately, the chance of getting your wallet or purse stolen is pretty high considering the amount of people that will be shopping alongside you. Keep your valuables close to your body and do not leave your purse unattended in a cart or basket somewhere.
Remember to ask about warranties on your items as well. Your homeowner’s insurance will cover you if your item is lost, damaged or stolen, but only once your deductible is met. In some cases that may not be worth filing a claim. Find out what type of coverage the store or manufacturer will offer you. Have a safe and happy holiday shopping season!
