Benefits of walking
Now that the warmer weather is upon us, you may be itching to get outside for some fresh air and exercise. One of the cheapest, easiest things you can do to get the blood pumping is to go for a walk. All you need is a pair of sneakers and a nice road to walk along. Walking every day can help keep you healthy in many ways.
Sure a treadmill is good, but if you can get outside for your walks you should do it. Being outside in the fresh air and sunlight can benefit you tremendously. Breathing in fresh air is good for your lungs. Getting some sunlight will help improve your Vitamin D level which helps with bone health. Speaking of bone health, walking also helps stave off osteoporosis because it is a weight-bearing exercise which can help increase bone density.
Getting out there for a good walk can also give you more energy to face the day. It releases the feel-good endorphins that can make you happier too! And imagine how great you will feel if you buddy up with a friend for a good walk filled with laughter and conversation. You may even want to get involved with some community walking groups or even try out a 5K in your area. Who knows? You may even want to give running a try.
Preventative actions like going for a daily walk or run can really help keep you healthy. Adding that to your wellness regimen along with visiting the doctor for wellness check ups, eating right, exercising and asking for health tips from your health insurance provider can keep you on the right track to good health.
